Talking Dogs own Peter Farrell and his family had a fine winner at Derry the other evening but he was quiet as a mouse about it.
Thankfully, our spies on the ground (Lynda Bonnar to be exact) were on the ball and pointed out the fine success of Coologue Roger at the Brandywell on Monday evening.
Rather than letting this scribe waffle on about a race he didn’t see, the ‘Greyhound Racing Sporting Enthusiasts’ sent on a report which can be read below. Well done to the Farrell family on their recent success.
The Farrell Family’s success at Brandywell
We have all read the numerous articles that Peter Farrell has written for Talking Dogs over the years about our sporting stars and their dedicated breeders, owners & trainers.
On this occasion the spotlight rightly falls on the Farrell family after Peter’s father landed the Consolation Final of the Len McKinney & Track Lotto Derby at Brandywell on Monday evening with his Coologue Roger.
After meeting crowding in his semi-final heat, Roger narrowing missed a place in the Grand Final by a length but made amends with a faultless performance from trap one in Monday’s Consolation Final decider. Leading from trap rise, he clocked a very fast 28.96 for the 525 yards.
You need lots of luck in this sport and whilst Roger narrowly missed making the Grand Final, connections must have been delighted that he showed exactly what he was capable of in the Consolation Final. Roger has now reached double figures, recording his 10th career win and adds this event to his S0 21.47 and A1 28.82 clocks in Dundalk.
This stunningly glossy coated June ‘20 son of Hondo Messi and Coologue Heart is just over 3 years old now and his performance at Brandywell suggests he is in the best form of his life. Congratulations to Coologue Roger and the Farrell Family and particular thanks to Peter for his regular coverage of the special moments that occur in our sporting community. Today, however, we wish to return our gratitude and congratulations to Peter and his Dad.
