Ian Fortune
Da Quiet Syd had to work for it but he completed his superb passage through the Bosco Gleeson Memorial at Newbridge on Friday night, leading at the third turn to emerge a good winner of the €2,300 winner’s purse.
A 28.42 and 28.57 winner in the two earlier rounds, the son of Droopys Sydney and Saoirse Mo Croi needed to be at his best from a tricky draw but he eventually came out on top. The pace-setting duties went to Lively Blake from the outside box but she was headed by Da Quiet Syd into the third turn.
This was the decisive moment in the contest. Owned by the Keeping It Civil Syndicate, the July ’21 whelp stayed on to secure a two-length victory in 28.94. Lively Blake was second with Mad George another length and a half further back in third.
FLATLAND AN EASY SCORER
Earlier on the card, Flatland, trained by Keith Powell for the CDJ Cill Dara Syndicate, emerged a good winner of the €750 Christmas Party Nights A3 5252 decider.
Prominent from the outset, the son of Lenson Rocky and Night Time Fairy led the field into the back straight before stretching clear to emerge a facile winner in 28.74. Shillelagh Lass was second.
