A huge crowd turned up at Youghal Greyhound Stadium last night for the Spooky Schools night and the racing on the track was fantastic.
In magnificent form in recent times, Hillcrest Johnny showed massive all round speed when winning the seventh, an A0-A1, for Michael O’Callaghan, Carrignavar.
The 13-2 shot made it a paw perfect 10th career success, in a top class, 28.96, a length clear of the pacey Corrin Axel. It really was a performance of the highest order from the inform tracker.

DE WATCHER
De Watcher, trained by local trainer John Hickey for the Woolf Tones Syndicate, delivered a stunning performance in the fifth, winning in 29.39, at odds 5-4.
Always in the mix, he tracked Affane Blossom for most of the journey and the strong runner pulled right away late on. A powerful display from the improving winner who looks like he would stay further.
WITCHES DOUBLE
The Lisgoold kennel of Liam Twomey landed a great double.
Witches Colombia made it win number 18 of her career in the sixth, an A7 contest. A 29.70 winning run from the 5-1 winner.
Witches Coogee completed the Witches double with a superb display in race nine, an A2. Tracking beautifully around the opening corners, the 7-1 outsider was soon clear. Masterly Moment powered home to get within a neck, in 29.27.
IN OTHER RACES
In the tenth, an A3, Canvas Bono displayed top-class early speed with winning at odds of 11-2. Owned by Jerry Kelleher, it went down as a brilliant 29.15 winning performance from the October puppy.
Boherash Twirl was without a win in 12 previous outings but she put it all together with a smart all-round performance in the 11th of the night, an A2 contest. Leonard Hanrahan's 6-1 shot pulled out all the stops in the closing stages to win, in 29.34.
