Last night saw the 2022 Liam Brussels Memorial come to a close at Galway Greyhound Stadium and So Its Rapid bounced back from semi final defeat to land the €1,800 to the winner feature.
Vincent McKenna had a very strong hand coming into the decider as both So Its Rapid and Lisk Falcon were fancied to go close based on prior exploits throughout the competition. The latter remained unbeaten heading into the final, while So Its Rapid was narrowly ousted in the semi final when beaten by just a neck. Despite that defeat, So Its Rapid, owned by Paul Pardy and trained by Vincent McKenna, went to traps an even money favourite with Lisk Falcon a little shorter at 5/4. However, things weren’t going to plan early on as Jumbo Bella led from trap three and she was followed in second by Lisk Falcon, with So Its Rapid only managing fourth place after a tardy start from six. Jumbo Bella continued to lead down the back straight but So Its Rapid was showing eye-catching improvement in behind and he stormed to the lead midway down the back straight. Drawing clear of his rivals thereafter, So Its Rapid built up ahead of speed and he used this momentum to gallop home a clear, four and three parts of a length victor over kennel companion, Lisk Falcon, in second. The time was a fast 28.87 .20s and many congratulations are extended to winning connections, Paul Pardy and Vincent McKenna.
