A recent guest on the Talking Dogs on Thursday Podcast, Midelton handler Michael O'Keeffe enjoyed a fantastic week at his local Youghal track.
It all started on Monday night when he teamed up with his good friend John O'Herlihy. There were good whispers around for Knockboy Curragh and he certainly didn't disappoint.
MONDAY NIGHT
Knockboy Curragh (Good News-Knockboy Kathy) got racing off to a flying start in Youghal as the June puppy delivered a magnificent debut-winning performance.
In the ownership of John O'Herlihy and Michael O'Keeffe, the well-backed 4-6 favourite produced a flying start to lead early doors. Showing different speed to the opposition, the exciting young talent was in a league of his own, winning by a country mile, in 29.05. It was an incredible display of early dash on a wet track. Racing was called off a couple of races later.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT
Curragh Sonic clocked a fabulous 28.90 in Wednesday night's fourth race at Youghal track.
Backed from 3-1 into 5-2, the fast-starting son of Sonic came away running and he led a good field of runners around the opening turns. Slaneyside Rice put up a strong challenge, but Curragh Sonic had all the answers, finding plenty to win, by half a length. (A2).
