DOUBLE FOR HENNESSY IN ENNISCORTHY’S APRIL STAKE

Dairyhill Stella returned to winning ways in the quarter finals of the April Unraced Stake at Enniscorthy on Monday evening, showing great determination to assert between the last two bends before going on to set the standard with a 28.95 return.
Just behind her on the clock was Dubai Kid in 28.98, while the remaining two contests were quite messy with Misterin Ger (29.91) and the Da Gingerbreadman (29.23) coming out on top.
STELLA FASTEST
Dairyhill Stella, owned by the MCSS Syndicate, was fastest, however, completing a double for Paul Hennessy in the process.
Left short of room into the turn, she slipped around in second behind Yahoo Sydney. Once passing halfway, the daughter of Ballymac Best and Dairyhill Josie began to motor.
Challenging and heading Yahoos Sydney between the last two bends, she quickly moved on before finishing with a flourish to emerge a four length scorer in 28.95. Rathbally Sparta came through for second with Yahoo Sydney qualifying in third, a further two and a half lengths adrift.
BREADMAN EARNS HIS DOUGH
Dagingerbreadman again displayed real pace from the second turn to come through to win Heat 3, initiating the Hennessy double.
Making a better start than his two previous outings, he was prominent into the turn and, despite being held up on the first and second bends, was upsides Airdown Tee Jai into the back straight.
The latter also displayed fine pace after a tardy start to challenge for the lead own into the third turn but Dagingerbreadman was far too strong. Finally asserting at the third turn, the powerful son of Jaytee Taylor and Darver Bridie raced right away to eventually win by five lengths from Saunders Savanah in 29.24. Airdown Tee Jai was third, some three lengths further back.
DUBAI SO IMPRESSIVE
Dubai Kid continued his impressive run through the stake for Peter Cronin and the Keg Syndicate when coming out on top in Heat 2.
The powerful son of Out Of Range and Swift Acoustic didn’t have the clearest of passages around the opening two bends but showed great balance to remain close enough to the pace.
Moving with real purpose into the third turn, he moved upsides Global Sydney at this point before shooting to the front. Tyford Diamond moved into second but was no match or the leader. Dubai Kid ran on well to win by an ever-widening four lengths in 28.98. Global Sydney was another half length adrift in third.
GER COMES OUT ON TOP
The opening heat was a messy affair with very few of the field getting a clear passage.
In the end, Mary Galway’s Misterin Ger came out on top as he rode a number of early bumps to turn second. He took over at the third turn from Rasta Toddy, finding more traffic in the process but still managed to hold the late charge of Stripe Sparky by a short head in 29.91. Ballinabola Coco was another five lengths back in third. It’s safe to say each of the runners in this contest are capable of going far faster.
