FRANK NELSON

It’s with great sadness we must report the passing of one of the great enthusiasts of greyhound racing, Frank Nelson.

Frank was a regular fixture at Navan, Dundalk, and Shelbourne Park for many years and was seen as one of the shrewdest judges around.

A real student of the formbook, his ability to pick winners saw him land many big jackpots at Shelbourne Park, while he was something of an expert in the ante-post market, picking a number Derby winners through the years.

A proud son of Meath, Frank was also hugely knowledgeable on GAA, particularly when it came to his beloved Royals. One of life’s great gentleman, Frank would spend any evening at the dogs deep in conversation with his many friends.

Frank will be greatly missed by those that knew him and we would likely to send on our condolences to his children David, Paul, Alan, Francis, Linda and Gary, his sister Madge and brother Tom, his beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren, extended family and many friends.

Funeral Notice

The death has occurred of Frank (Francis) Nelson, Athlumney, Navan, Co. Meath.

Frank passed peacefully at the Mater Hospital on March 4th 2024. A beloved husband, father, grandad, great grandad and father in law. Pre-deceased by his adoring wife of 57 years, Imelda. Also by his parents Jack and Mary and his brother Alfie.

Frank will be forever missed by his children David, Paul, Alan, Francis, Linda and Gary, his sister Madge and brother Tom, his daughters in law Geraldine, Janette, Martina, Clodagh, Sinéad and Pamela, son in law Finbarr, his 15 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends. Frank will also be sadly missed by his extended family in Ireland and the UK, his good neighbours and a large circle of friends.

May his kind and gentle soul Rest In Peace.

Frank passed last week and has already been buried.
