FAMILIAR FACES HELP TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT JERSEYS AT THE DOGS

FAMILIAR FACES HELP TO SPREAD THE WORD ABOUT JERSEYS AT THE DOGS

GRI

Some familiar sporting faces have been kindly helping us to spread the word about the fundraising event – can you help us too?

On Friday 5th, Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th Greyhound Stadia across the country will help to raise some much needed funds for the Dillon Quirke Foundation. Show your support for the event by turning up in your jerseys – all clubs, colours & sports welcomed. There will be bucket collections in each stadium on the night and all donations, no matter how small or big, are welcomed. Maybe you’ve a bit of spare change in the van or a pot of coins gathering dust on the shelf at home, whatever it is your support is much appreciated.

Some familiar faces in the sporting world have been kindly helping us to spread the word about the event.

Check out Greyhound Racing Ireland or your local stadium’s social media channels and like, comment and share the posts about Jerseys At The Dogs – your engagement on your local stadium’s social media is what helps the message to reach even more eyes!

What the Dillon Quirke Foundation does and why it matters?

Dillon Quirke was 24 when he collapsed during a hurling match and died of Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) on 5th August 2022 in Semple Stadium, Thurles. Following his tragic passing, Dillon’s family established a charity in his name to help save another family from the heartbreak they experienced.

Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) claims 100 young lives each year in Ireland and the Dillon Quirke Foundation was created with the aim of raising awareness and setting up a screening programme which will screen every player (both male and female) from 12 years of age upwards.

The roll-out of the screening programme has already begun and Dillon’s father, Dan Quirke, gave us an update on how they’re getting along recently, have a look.

Last year we raised €10,000 help us do even more this year!
