ARTEMIS UK BOUND

ARTEMIS UK BOUND

Ian Fortune

After a magnificent runners-up performance in the Shelbourne Marathon over the grueling 1025yd trip ahead of Christmas, Nametab Artemis has been sold to the UK and will be campaigned over marathon distances.

Geoff Bateman announced the news on Twitter yesterday evening with a wonderful picture of “Millie” captioned, “Nametab Artemis off to a new owner in the UK to run in long-distance races and marathons. Good luck to Millie, you’re a super girl to have in any kennel.”

The home-bred daughter of Skywalker Puma and Nametab Gigi was a decent tracker for Geoff, winning four times around Enniscorthy but it was a step up in trip that really saw her coming into her own. Her displays in the Shelbourne Marathon were hugely eye-catching. Sadly, due to a lack of opportunities for ultra-marathon performers on Irish soil it makes sense for Geoff to sell her across the Irish Sea. She will no doubt contest the best staying races in the UK in the coming year and we wish the very best of luck to her new connections. No doubt Geoff will be watching on and supporting her from afar.
