SOME SMART DISPLAYS IN KILCOHAN PARK ON SATURDAY NIGHT

Barry Drake

The Paddy & Ciara Sharkey Bookmakers & W.T.S.C A2 stake got underway in Kilcohan Park on Saturday night.

There were several smart displays in the opening round, but the performance of the night came in race number seven as Whitewood Moyne went quickest on the clock for Laura Earle.
The 2-1 favourite wasn't the quickest into stride, but the July puppy had enough early pace to just make the corner in front. A 29.08 winner on debut back in January, the son of Whitewood Lad and Packies Close always looked a real nice sort. He had to be brave on Saturday night, holding all challengers, he kept on well to land the spoils. A 28.85 winning performance, two and a half lengths clear of Tinahue Brodie. The impressive winner rates a leading player for outright glory.

Tomahurra Champ clocked 28.93 to win the final heat for Donal Kehoe.
No stranger to big displays around course and distance, the 5-2 winner produced one of his better starts and led early doors. A strong running tracker when getting off the front, the smart winner displayed plenty of all around pace up front. At the line, he was three lengths clear of Slaneyside Pogo, in 28.93.
