BORN TO PERFORM IMPRESSES ON DEBUT

BORN TO PERFORM IMPRESSES ON DEBUT

Peter Farrell

Following the ‘Ready To Race’ sales earlier in the day, Clonmel hosted a nine race card on Friday night and there was a debut of real note as Born To Perform burst onto the scene.

Owned by John Mitchell, Born To Perform is a little late onto the racing scene as an April 22’ whelp, however, she displayed huge pace on debut to improve the guts of two seconds on her previous qualifying effort. Going off as the 4/5 favourite, the daughter of Malachi and Cheeky Chloe, who was an Open class performer herself, Born To Perform broke level with Boozed Zone at trap rise, however, immediately displayed sizzling early gears to take a two length lead into the back. Drawing clear at the halfway mark, the third bend sectional was 16.31 and this impressive lady upped the ante and at that point. Extending her advantage to massive fourteen lengths approaching the line, the time for Born To Perform was a rapid 28.57 .10s and expect to hear more from this tracker in the year ahead.

JOTA SCORES AGAIN

Elsewhere on the card, the quickest over the two-bend trip came in race three as the evergreen Circus Jota made it back-to-back victories for owner Michael Ryan.

An October 19’ veteran, Ryan’s charge has shown that he still has plenty to offer and after winning comfortably last time out, he was even more convincing in running out a seven length winner of his 300-yard contest. Running from trap three, the 6/4 favourite was swiftly into stride and he soon asserted to take control into the opener. Steering a wide course thereafter, it mattered not as he stretched his advantage in the closing stages to win by an extending seven lengths. The time was a brisk 16.21.
