BOGGER DASHES TO DEADLY GLORY

BOGGER DASHES TO DEADLY GLORY

Ian Fortune

Bogger Cooper handed Liam Peacock another memorable night at Kilkenny on Friday, showing tremendous early speed to contain the odds-on favourite into the turn before going on to land the €5,000 to the winner Deadly Kennels A2 525.

From an ideal draw on the fence, 4-1 chance Bogger Cooper came away racing and held Cheque For Sir by a half length into the bend. In fact, the runners turned in trap order and, while they didn’t remain so, there was no change up front.

Cheque For Sir gave chase down the back straight but was never getting to the leader. The Other Breac took up the chase at the final turn and did stay on well but he too couldn’t bridge the gap to the pace-setting Bogger Cooper. The son of Pestana and Bogger Bonnie raced on to a deserving length and a half victory over The Other Breac in 29.13 with Cheque For Sir the same distance away in third.

BEN A PROMISING TYPE

Earlier on the card there was a notable display from the youngster Noirs Ben.

The son of Good News and Noirs Lottie really impressed on debut seven days earlier, posting 29.08 and he went one spot faster to win the final of the Boylesports Bookmakers ON2 525.

Trained by the in-form Shaun Conway for the Ponies To Pups Syndicate, Noirs Ben was sent to traps the 4-7 favourite and he duly obliged as a favourite should. Afforded room in the early yards, he displayed fine acceleration into the bend to take charge on the run up. Thereafter it was all one-way traffic as he raced further and further clear to see off Ballymac Kendra by six lengths in 29.07.
