PATS BEST AT GALWAY

PATS BEST AT GALWAY

Peter Farrell

There was an eleven race card down for decision at Galway Greyhound Stadium last night and the quickest of the session was Pats Angela who excelled brilliantly to win race six.

Owned by Michael Keating, Pats Angela was bidding to make it two wins from her last three starts and she went about it expertly, making every yard of the running to dip under the 29-second barrier. Flashing from trap two, the September fawn displayed the best of the early gears to lead around the opening turn and take a two length lead into the back from the even money favourite, Joeys Champ, in second. Pressing home her advantage around the bottom two bends, the daughter of Ballymac Best and Colorado Josie extended her lead to four lengths crossing the line, in a swift time of 28.95 .10s.

JOEYS GIRL QUICKEST IN XMAS STAKE

Elsewhere on the card, the two semi finals of the Xmas Bundles A4 525 also took place and the quickest of the semis was Joeys Girl in the opener.

Owned by the Joeys-Lad Syndicate, Joeys Girl won her last start when leading from traprise and the March 21’ whelp is making a habit of bolting from traps. A 2/1 chance at the off, the blue flashed from trap four early on and showed sizzling early pace to open a four length lead over Boyneside Topic entering the back stretch. The latter was making rapid inroads around the bottom two bends to cut the lead in half, however, the daughter of Droopys Sydney and Mt Heaton Daisy kept enough in reserve to win by one and a half lengths. The time was 29.11 .10s.

In the second semi final, Returning Hero (Kinloch Brae - Brookside Dash) left it late to record his second career victory for Jacob Ward. Running from trap three, Returning Hero turned right at traprise as he disputed early on with Fast Fat Alex in six. The latter took charge entering the back and he opened up a five length lead on Returning Hero midway down the back. However, this contest was far from over as Returning Hero rallied in the closing stages to storm up the home straight and win by one length. The time was 29.45 .10s.
