Fans of greyhound racing will have noticed a new brand name for greyhound feed available on the Irish & UK market since the beginning of the year. Time (brought to you by GreyCo Ltd) was launched by two well-known names associated with the greyhound food market, Willie Rigney and John Fox.
The two men who have prided themselves over the years on the supply of high-quality nutritional products for their customers had dipped their toe in the sponsorship market earlier in the year with the announcement of their support of the Cork Cup at Curraheen Park Greyhound Stadium. They have now announced a series of further sponsorship agreements for the remainder of 2023.
John Fox, Willie Rigney and Ian Magnier (Racing Manager, Kilcohan Park) announcing the details for the sponsorship of the Time Select Stakes due to start on Saturday 15th April with €10,000 to the winner.
This week they announced that they will be sponsoring two major existing events - the Select Stakes in Kilcohan Park (with €10,000 to the winner) and the Juvenile Derby at Shelbourne Park (with €25,000 to the winner).
They have also created a new competition which will be called Time Graders A4 525 Derby.
The event will see six 12 dog races to be hosted at 6 venues nationwide (Galway Greyhound Stadium, Kingdom Greyhound Stadium, Newbridge Greyhound Stadium, Clonmel Greyhound Stadium, Kilkenny Greyhound Stadium & Thurles Greyhound Stadium).
Each competition carries a first-place prize of €1,000 with an automatic entry for both winner and runner-up to a Championship Final Competition hosted at Limerick Greyhound Stadium with a €5,000 to the winner first prize.
John Fox, Willie Rigney and Michael Bagge and his greyhound Crack On Jack at the announcement of a series of Greyhound Racing sponsorships by Time Greyhound Nutrition including the Select Stakes, Juvenile Derby and a new Time Graders A4 525 Derby in multiple locations nationwide.
John Tuohey, Interim CEO of Greyhound Racing Ireland said, "We are delighted to have Time announce further sponsorship agreement with our network of stadia. Not only does this support owners and trainers, but due to the unique structure of our sponsorship agreements 50% of the total amount will be contributed to the Greyhound Care Fund. This fund supports the care and welfare initiatives across Ireland".
John Fox of Time Greyhound Nutrition said "Willie Rigney and myself are proud to be sponsoring this great industry, and in our own small way repay our customers for the support they have given both of us over the years. Even though our Time brand is different, the products are the same as people are used to, except for Greyhound 28 which is improved by the addition of panbonis for extra bone strength”.
