ALLORY FASTEST AS TANGO STAKE COMMENCES AT NEWBRIDGE

Ian Fortune

Friday’s card at Newbridge featured the opening round of the Brownstown Tango & NTSC Open Unraced Bitch 525 and none went faster than Ballymac Allory as she posted the fastest time of the three heats winners when coming home alone in 28.84.

After showing real ability in qualifying, including posting a rapid 17.33 around Tralee for the 325yd trip, she was sent to traps the even money favourite for the opening heat. Representing Liam and Shane Dowling, the daughter of King Sheeran and former Derby finalist Maries Wedding actually mistimed the start slightly but flew up the fence before forcing her way to the front on the corner.

In a matter of strides, she opened a race-winning advantage.

Four lengths clear at the second turn and carrying more momentum than those in behind who had to ride a couple of hefty bumps, she was soon eight lengths clear. Callaway Fia was second down the back straight and filled that position at the finish but Ballymac Allory was too good on this occasion, crossing the line seven and a half lengths to the good in 28.84. There was two and a half lengths to Killough Bird in third.

RUBY MAKES MOST OF EARLY ADVANTAGE

Oliver McGrath and Brendan Murphy teamed up to win in the second heat with Sunset Ruby.

Early speed was the key to success with the daughter of Deerjet Sydney and Ballinabola Ruby taking over on the corner from the fast-starting Bling Bling Mint.

Entering the back straight two and a half lengths in front, Sunset Ruby increased her advantage to halfway. Maireads Susie big pace to move second down the back and stayed on strongly to close on the leader but Sunset Ruby dug deep to contain her rival by a length in 28.96. Bling Bling Mint was three lengths further back in third.

CRISPY MAKES ALL

Barry Clancy and Graham Ashe sent out Droopys Crispy to win the final heat in trap to line fashion.

A daughter of Droopys Addition and Droopys Alyssa, he shot from two and was always at the head of affairs. Both Susies Shadow and Ballymac Lix displayed ability in defeat but Droopys Crispy was never headed, despite getting clipped slightly at the turn.

Maintaining a strong gallop throughout, Droopys Crispy saw off Susies Shadow by two lengths in 29.01 with Newline Emma Be staying on after early traffic to take third a further eight lengths adrift.
