ADRIAN HANLEY VET DECIDER ON OFFER AT LIMERICK

Peter Farrell

There’s another handsome prize on offer at Limerick Greyhound Stadium tonight as the final of the Adrian Hanley Vet A1/A2 525 takes centre stage.

Kindly sponsored by Adrian Hanley, the final boasts a first prize of €1,400 and opinions are sure to be split with little to separate several runners on the clock. Hopes Kitty is the likely favourite for Pat Buckley and the January 23’ pup is fresh from a sparkling 28.57 win in the semis. A really powerful daughter of Tullig Cyrname, she looks destined for a career over further going forward, however, she has shown enough to suggest she has all the attributes to land this contest. That said, she faces a very tricky draw in five and will need the gaps to open. Of her rivals, Carrigmore Freya landed the other semi final in outstanding style last weekend for Patsy and Aoife Coffey. Posting a rapid 28.39 on that occasion when taking charge off the second turn, she has a plumb draw in red and sectionals suggest that she is also the likely leader. Should this be the case, the daughter of Droopys Sydney will prove very difficult to peg back. Kilcolgan Comet is likely to have a say in the opening exchanges. Trained by Neilus O’Connell, the veteran tracker flew out last weekend to post a 1.25 split and any repeat of that will see him have a say in the outcome of the event. Of the remaining finalists, Portdrine Magic, Tyrap Magic and Drombeg Spark all know how to win and certainly have claims of making the frame. The latter in particular is very well-drawn in the stripes and has the times to land the spoils.
