A LINGRAWN FOUR-TIMER

Ian Fortune

It nearly escaped us but Liam and Mary Jones accounted for a might impressive four winners at Mullingar’s Sunday afternoon meeting.

Not only did they send out four winners but they all happened to be from the same litter.

Lingrawn Billy got the four-timer underway in the fifth race, taking charge down the back straight before running out a comfortable five length winner in 30.12. a couple of races later Lingrawn Heidi followed up her litter brother, leading in the final ten strides to win by a half length in 29.75.

Lingrawn Niamh brought up the hat trick in the following race, showing good early speed to lead from the bend. She went on to contain Gadhar Ar Mire by a length in 29.78. And so, all eyes were on Lingrawn Lola in the eleventh race on the card.

Sent to traps the even money favourite, Lingrawn Lola obliged in fine style, leading early for a facile seven length success in 29.67. The four litter comrades are December ’19 whelps by Droopys Jet out of Lingrawn Suzy.

Incredibly, Liam and Mary nearly made it five on the night as they also sent out the runner-up in the finale. Lingrawn Elody, a half brother to the four winners, ran on well but ultimately failed by a length behind Rosards Blue. It really was a great afternoon or Liam and Mary Jones. No doubt their supper tasted that little bit better when they landed home to their Tipperary base.
