Damien Lonergan tells anyone listening that he is the hardest working man in Irish greyhound racing after yours truly but he really was working hard this weekend, getting the quarter final heats of the Boylesports Irish Greyhound Derby priced up within hours of the draw.
And a phone call on Sunday evening confirmed there had already been significant support for a couple including Carrick Aldo and Callaway Knegare. The former ran a huge race behind Bockos Diamond in the third round and has been backed from 2-1 into 13-8 for the third quarter final. As a result Boylesports Bob has been pushed out from 2-1 to 9-4.
Callaway Knegare faces a very tough test in the final heat where he must take on the new track record holder and hot favourite Bockos Diamond, but he was subject to a chunky bet at 11-2 for the heat and is now 5-1. Bocko Diamond remains the 4-11 favourite for the heat.
Elsewhere, Bombay Pat has been introduced at 2-1 for the hottest heat of the round, Heat 1. He takes on the likes of De Lahdedah (10-3), March On Freddie and Ballinabola Jim (both 3-1), while Cheap Sandwiches is the 4-6 favourite for Heat 2. The heat prices can be seen below:
