The Gerry Merriman trained Highview Lemon took the headlines at Shelbourne Park on Friday night as she raced to a tremendous success in the final of the €1,200 Retired Greyhound Trust A2 Bitch.

Prominent from the start, she took up the running from the fast-starting Cranley Snowdrop as they entered the back straight.

The latter never went away but Paddy Merriman’s Highview Lemon (Jaytee Jet/ Highview Daisy) dug in to hold on for a half length verdict in 28.54.

Meanwhile in the opening round of the Talking Dogs online TV A2 525, Sawdust Pleaser set the standard for Murt Leahy and the Chissel Syndicate.

Making every inch after a flying start, the son of Romeo Recruit and Droopys Sarafina held off the strong late challenge of Tide Will Turn by a neck in 28.49.

Early speed was the key to victory for Siobhan Burke’s Patricks Machine in Heat 2, as he too made all to come home clear. The Neilus O’Connell trained son of Kinloch Brae and Newinn Tesse was never threatened as he saw off Ballybough Daly by four lengths in 28.67.

The Ollie Bray trained Sunshine Hero made a decisive move on the opening turn in Heat 3. Owned by the Virgil Van Fitzy Syndicate, the son of Skywalker Puma and Royal Mission stayed tight to the fence to take up the running from Nitro Glycerin. Thereafter, the result was never in doubt and Sunshine Hero came home a length and a half to the good in 28.65.

Coolavanny Bundi was another trap to line winner in Heat 4. Trained by the man of the moment, Mark O’Donovan for Mike Bandurak, the son of Confident Rankin and Coolavanny Sella shot from trap five and made every inch to see off the eye-catching Look Out by four and a half lengths in 28.63.
