Martin Murphy, Ladysbridge, enjoyed a magnificent 230-1 treble at Youghal Greyhound Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
In the fourth, Knockglass Flash returned to top form when winning for Knockglass Kennels. The 10-1 outsider slipped around in front, pulling nicely clear on the back straight, the impressive winner beat Witches Bronte, by four lengths, in 29.10. (A2).
It was two on the day for Martin Murphy after Knockglass Wild proved a class apart in race eight, the €850 to the winner Budds Memorials A3 Stake Final. Witches Balmoral shot clear early and the well-backed 2-1 favourite had to take a bump at the opening bend, however, he soon recovered and he powered home to win easily, in 29.51.
The treble was completed after the success of Knockglass Buick in the closing race on the card. A 29.91 front running winning run from the 6-1 shot. A day to remember for Martin Murphy.
Speck (Dromana Bucko-Shinnagh Tune), trained by Kevin McLean for the Only In It For The Craic Syndicate, Clonmel, produced a most impressive display to win the feature on the day, the €950 to the winner Deelish Kennels ON2 Stake Final.
The September puppy improved from his debut performance as he took up the running early and he showed plenty of pace throughout. A bright prospect, the 7-4 second favourite came home with four lengths to spare over the unlucky in-running Blue Planet.
