Company Information and Introduction:

Rásaíocht Con Éireann (RCÉ) / Greyhound Racing Ireland (GRI) is a commercial semi-state body responsible for the Promotion and Development of Greyhound Racing in Ireland.

Hours of Work:

The role is a full-time role, 37.5 hours per week, 5 days per week normally Monday to Friday but may vary depending on the needs of the business. Flexibility will be required to meet the requirements of the role.


Key Responsibilities and Duties:

Role Overview:

The primary purpose of the Process Improvement Accountant role is to support the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and the wider organisation in delivering financial and operational process improvement, leveraging lean continuous improvement methodologies to enhance efficiency and profitability. The role is varied and a key aspect will be actively participating with the recently formed Organisational Development and Efficiency Unit. This unit is focused on optimising the utilisation of company resources including financial, people, technology and business processes in order to improve the efficiency and profitability of the company. A proactive, detail-focused, and self-starting individual is essential for success.

Key Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Participation in the Organisational Development and Efficiency Unit applying lean continuous methodologies (DMAIC, Value Stream Mapping, etc.) to identify and resolve financial and operational issues.

  • Lead or participate in projects, focusing on areas such as cost reduction, process optimization, and quality improvement.

  • Developing and Implementing KPIs: Setting and monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to measure the success of process improvement initiatives.

  • Development of financial reports utilising Business Intelligence software to provide real time reports to support business decision making.

  • Analyze business processes and financial data to identify areas for lean intervention across all business units.

  • Management and implementation of assigned projects with appropriate tracking and reporting systems.

  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives, including the development of automation and reporting dashboards

  • Train and mentor other team members on continuous improvement principles and methodologies.

  • Drive automation initiatives within the finance function to improve efficiency and reporting accuracy.

  • Carry out any other reasonable task as assigned by management to meet business needs.


Key Skills and Competencies:

  •  Qualified / Part Qualified Accountant.

  • Project management and implementation experience.

  • Possess a commercial outlook on all business matters.

  • Demonstrate ability to work collaboratively with others and to build relationships across the business is key to this role.

  • Be a dedicated self-starter, who can work independently, coordinating and prioritising work.

  • Possess a strong focus on attention to detail.

  • Strong technical understanding of finance systems and ERP platforms.

  • Strong MS Office skills.

  • Experience in implementing continuous  improvement systems is highly desirable.

  • LEAN Six Sigma qualification is highly desirable.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage both finance and non-finance users. A fluency in English is essential.
